A serving bowl that is oven-safe stops being a serving bowl and becomes the dish the food was cooked in, which is one fewer thing to wash and a better-looking table. Twenty-eight centimetres and three point two litres takes a salad for six, a full gratin or a family portion of pasta.
Same vitrified body as the plates, under half a percent absorption, so a dressing does not stain it and a baked cheese does not leave a shadow. Oven safe to 200°C, dishwasher and microwave safe. The one thing it will not take is a jump from freezer to hot oven; nothing ceramic does.
The one limitation worth stating: no ceramic body survives a jump from freezer to hot oven, and this one is no exception. Everything here is oven-safe from cold and freezer-safe on its own; it is the transition between the two that cracks a glaze, and no vitrification prevents it.
