In detail
New linen is stiff, and most people put it away rather than use it. These are stone-washed before they are sold, so they arrive soft and drape properly rather than needing a year of laundering to become usable.
A hundred and ninety grams per square metre at forty-five centimetres square — substantial enough to feel like something and large enough to be useful. Mitred corners and a hand-turned hem rather than an overlocked edge. Wash warm, no softener, and press them damp if you like a crease. They get softer permanently with every wash, which is the property linen has and cotton does not.
The one limitation worth stating: no ceramic body survives a jump from freezer to hot oven, and this one is no exception. Everything here is oven-safe from cold and freezer-safe on its own; it is the transition between the two that cracks a glaze, and no vitrification prevents it.
