In detail
Steamer inserts are usually sized to one pan and useless in the rest. This one is a folding petal design in 18/10 stainless that closes from twenty-three centimetres down to fourteen, which covers every pan from a three-quart saucier to an eight-quart stockpot.
Perforated rather than slotted, so small things like peas and gnocchi do not fall through. A removable centre post lets it take a whole fish or a stack of bowls. The feet hold it twenty-five millimetres clear of the base, which is enough water for forty minutes of steaming without a top-up. Dishwasher safe.
What it will not do: non-stick work. Nothing in this course is coated, which means eggs and delicate fish want either cast iron with a mature seasoning or a pan we do not sell. We would rather say that than sell you a coating that has a three-year life and cannot be repaired.
