Accessibility

We want this site to work for everyone, including people using a screen reader, a keyboard alone,
magnification, or a browser set to reduce motion. This page records what we have done, what we know is
imperfect, and how to tell us when we get it wrong.

What we aim for

We hold ourselves to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. That is a working
standard, not a certification we have bought.

What we have done

  • Contrast on a dark ground. Body text and headings are measured against the page
background rather than assumed. Our accent is used at a contrast ratio of 8.8:1 against white and is never
the only means of conveying information.
  • Keyboard. Every link, button, form field and every piece in the place-setting diagram is
reachable and operable by keyboard. Focus is shown with a visible two-pixel outline that is never removed. A
skip-to-content link is first in the tab order.
  • The place setting. The overhead diagram on the home page is not the only route into the
catalogue — every course it links to is also in the main navigation and the footer. Each piece in it is
a real focusable link with its own accessible name, so it can be tabbed through and read aloud.
  • Motion. The diagram names each piece in turn when it first comes into view. If your system
is set to reduce motion it does not animate at all: every label is drawn immediately and nothing is lost.
  • Structure. One h1 per page, properly nested headings, and landmarks marking the header,
    navigation, main content and footer.
  • Images. Product photographs carry descriptive alternative text. Decorative shapes are
hidden from assistive technology rather than announced.
  • Tables. Material and specification tables use real table markup with header cells, so a
screen reader announces which value belongs to which label.
  • Zoom and reflow. The site reflows to a single column and stays usable at 200% zoom and at
a 390-pixel viewport, with no horizontal scrolling.

Where we fall short

Part of the checkout is rendered by our commerce platform rather than by us. We have restyled it for
contrast and focus visibility, but its markup is not entirely ours and some of its error messages are
announced later than they should be. If that blocks you, email us and we will take the order by email at the
same prices — that route is always open and it is not a lesser service.

The site is dark by design. We have not yet built a light mode, and for some readers a dark ground is
harder rather than easier. Increasing your browser or system contrast helps; we are looking at a proper light
theme rather than an automatic inversion, which tends to make photography unreadable.

Tell us

If any part of this site is difficult or impossible for you to use, write to
support@tblholdings.store and say what happened and what you were using. We treat that as
a defect report, not a complaint, and we will tell you what we intend to do and when.
